OKay so i just finished cleaning my HHR and it still looks dirty as hell!!! And its because of those damn bug splatters!!! Any idea on how to clean them off? Im using the mrClean car wash soap and filter system to clean and it does an amazing job but nothing I use seems to get the bugs off and Im afraid that if they stay too long its going to ruin the paint or become 1 with it

 

Ya, they're a *****. I'm curious too. I usually just give up.

 

with those chemicals you are cleaning with. WD-40 never hurt anything , we used to use it to get gum out of carpet on commercial and residential carpet cleaning accounts.

 

So WD-40 doesn't make a good paint remover?

 

i just don't like putting any harsh chemicals on paint or chrome. i'm sure someone else will post some of their secrets. i really have never heard of WD-40 hurting anything , including paint. i would try to use the most gentle soap you can find, some that is recomended for auto wash. you may try soaking a rag with the soap and letting it sit on the bugs for a while. my grill is starting to look kinda pitted also , up close , but great as you step only a few feet away. i plan to put 2 or 3 coats of Collinite wax on it when i get a chance. my windshield also looks like its been sandblasted , i do alot of higher speed driving.

 

WD-40 does work great to remove almost anything I have also used bug and tar remover. The funny thing is it smells just like WD-40 only it was a gel a clay bar works great also but it takes some elbow grease

 

Soak the car and apply some Mr.Clean soap. Let it sit for a while. Then lightly use a wet new bug remover pad that you use for windshields.The kind you can get from any auto store. Works for me.

 

Awesome guys!!! Im gonna try the WD40 sometime this week and see what happens? Should I let it sit for like a minute or just spray and wipe???

 

That is all well and good, using Bug and Tar remover, WD-40, whatever, Iso Alcholol..it works, it also strips everything down to the straight paint. Just like claying. If you do this, then you need to wax now! Todd (Uma)

 

yes UMA your right I did forget to mention that as far as using the WD-40 I just sprayed and wiped with a soft damp cloth there was some firm wiping involved
