Clearcoat starting to peel off rims

well, a couple days ago i noticed that the clearcoat was peeling off my new 20" rims.
i don't have the slightest clue why. its not the rim cleaner i use cause i check the bottles to make sure its good for all types of rims.

i emailed the company i bought the rims from with no response. they only use manufactures warranty.

i emailed ADR with no response.

the peeling is getting soooo bad that i don't want to touch my rims being afraid that more clear will flake off.

any advise?

Wow that sucks man I had some wheels do this that I bought a long time ago from Sears, they were cheap wheels though I got what I paid for. Maybe salt did it, is it the spokes or the polished lip?

Damn man, are all the wheels doing it? I never use wheel cleaner on after market wheels I always just use soap and water.

doing some reading, it looks like i can use a paint remover or wetsand the area, then use a buffer and polish to make it new or just re clear after sanding the old clear off.

yea you can do that if your up for it, I wonder if the spokes will do it tho? If I were you from now on just use soap and water to clean your wheels just get a separate sponge just for the wheels that what I do and I have never had problems.

Just to let you know that I've had that happen before, depending on the wheel manufacturer depends on what they do.

I've sent mine out to have refinished at about $100 per wheel (plus mounting, dismounting etc) so it's not a bunch of fun.

considering your wheels are about $135 each, I'd think about just getting a new one and refinishing that one in your spare time

If all 4 rims are peeling, what are the chances of it being how/who mounted them?

just wet sand the clear off and reapply some clear to protect it. But you should hava warranty since they are new
