Can anyone recommend a fabric repair kit? I have the grey cloth interior on the seats and on the driver's seat there is a burn hole about half a centimeter wide. Mock me for being an idiot smoker, if you must. I'm ashamed enough. Any help is appreciated. I searched the forums and could not find one post dealing with the subject so I thought I'd ask.

EDIT: I've searched dem dere intarwebs and the kit found at the following site seems to be what most of the kits are like. Does anyone have any experience using a kit like this?

I'm looking for one as well. My wife left an almost 1cm burn hole on the drivers seat.

 

I do interior repair too. Just find out who your dealers uses and get them to do it. $75 and its done right.

 

I agree with TomDent on this one. Do it right, or don't do it at all. And stop smoking....not only does it wreck your upholstery, it wrecks your life.

 

As far as the kit it looks okay.... but if you have never done it it is soooo easy to screw up!

 

I think I would take the opportunity to invest in a good form fitting set of seat covers...not the cheapo kind found at every department store but a nice custom set. Would be a hell of a lot more expensive I assume than a repair, but the fabric on the HHR seats is pretty crappy IMHO. Once I can afford it, I think that is what I will be doing given how cheap the HHR fabric looks, how easily it stains and how much static it generates.

 

So, what do you use? I could get an eight dollar permatex kit and get the same results with a bit of practice on a sample or spend 75 bucks. Or, I could find out what you use and spend the money on that and take the time to learn how to use it and not the labor cost. No offense, but I'd rather both, do it myself and save the money. Oh, and not take it to the dealer and look like the irresponsible jackass that I am.

nfboy, I agree and have looked at the seatcover threads and will get a set. Probably from the company out of Hawaii, pricey but they seem to be the tops.

Other than wanting to get the burn out of my seat I was also thinking of getting a better price when I trade up for the coming HHR with 305HP and the 6 speed... That and to avoid the embarassment of my loserness for burning my kickass car. :)

 

And don't forget the option of looking for a seat from a wreck. You could probably get the whole seat for less than a pro repair job, and replacement would be easier

 

on ebay there parting out a LS with gray seats. he might have a seat, it says to email them for other parts. also on ebay they have a gray cloth take out seat covers hope this helps

 

I use stuff from a company that specializes in producing products for mobile techs. You can not get the same results with the permatex kit, period! I know I spent $8 a month ago and played with their kit. It's like a Ding King kit, It's a waste of money. Just go to the used car manager at a dealer and ask him when his interoir guy comes around or for his number. Just tell the interior you have burn and want to see if he can fix it. Don't ask a million questions and go back inside while he fixxes it. That will help you get a better job and cheaper. Us lot lizards are a wierd bunch.
