Custom Taillights

I just recently got an HHR. (havn't paid my first paymetn)
I already installed a Stull Billet grill and a set of Racing stripes.
I was thinking about doing some blue dot taillights. I had an idea the other night. I was stearing at the factory tail lights, wondering if they could make a euro light, and saw that the back up lights are identical.
Anybody know if you can swap out the backup lamps out for the tail lights? I know you would have to have red bulbs or red LEDs or something. Could even put blue dots on top of the clear. anybody know if this would work? I may try later on today and see if it works

Well, just make sure the blue dots are even legal in your state first. I know many of the states outlaw those.

sorry havent taken pics yet. I have looked behind the lense though. They appear to be the same size or at least close enough to work. The bolt pattern ont the lights seem to be different, but they are mounted inside black plastic buckets. If I can find a place that sells these tail lights for a decent price I'll do what ever it takes to get it done. I think it would look sweet even with stock back up lights.

The lenses run about $40 each and the tail and backup lights use different bulbs - so might have different mounting bases (I can't remember).

Only $40 each huh? That's not bad. Now I'm not afraid to smoke my tail lights. I was afraid that Chevy would charge me a lot for them if I needed a new set because it is against the law to smoke your lights here in NY. Maybe I should just stay away from illegal mods.

What's the fun in that. Soon it will be illegal to lower your car because you will cause a backup at every speed bump.
