dark silver metallic problem

The paint looks "splotchy". I noticed it a little when I first got "Turtle". Now 9 months and 6000 miles later, I swear the problem is getting worse. It is really noticeable on the fenders and sides of the hood. It's hard to describe. It looks like cloud reflections, but the spot doesn't disappear. I am debating on taking it in and seeing about getting it repainted. The whole car shows it. Anyone else have this problem?

Almost two years now with my '06 DSM, and no problems at all. I wouldn't get my hopes up about having GM/Chevy repaint on their dime, though.

Haven't seen that problem with mine. Almost sounds like the clearcoat has gone bad.

Have you tried waxing a cloudy area to see if it comes out?

There was an earlier thread regarding this issue. I understood that is why Chevy discontinued using the color. I have looked at several Dark Silver HHR's and noticed the cloudiness in the paint. It isn't the clearcoat it is deeper in the paint.

I've seen/noticed it on 2 different HHRs when I was shopping for mine. It really turned me away from that color. The whole car was blotchy (brand new cars too!). Maybe they had a bad paint run.

I don't know if there's a fix for it....

I'm beginning to feel picky about the paint. The more I look at it, the more it bothers me

The thing I notice about my DSM is there seems to be a slight inconsistency in the shade of the panels. Some appear lighter or darker than others. But it is only noticeable under really bright light and if you are looking for it.
