Dash kits - looking for feedback from those who have one
Dash kits - looking for feedback from those who have one
I'm interested in getting a dash kit. I found several reasonably priced kits, but I have no idea what they really look like. Are they truely an improvement? Or do they just look so-so, or worse, like someone put contact paper over the dash? Also, what brand do you have, and where did you buy it? How's it holding up?
I know, lots of questions, but I'd hate to pop a couple of hundred bucks only to have it look cheesy in a few years. Worse, if I had to pull it out because of wear and tear, I can only imagine what the backing tape will do to the original plastic underneath.

The search engine is your friend. Just type in dash kits and you'll get 2 pages of results.
Here's one thread I posted in with pics of mine which is a 55 piece set I got from http://edashkit.com

Thanks! I did use the search engine already. Very little in those threads talk about longevity or qaulity of appearance. I appreaciate the link. Your thread must have been way down on the list. Those are about the best photos I've seen so far, and EDash is the vendor I'm looking at the most.
I've had mine on since 10/06 which is about 18 months. I have had no issues with the quality of the product. The only issues I have had was some loosening up of a couple pieces on curved areas like steering wheel controls and rear part of center console. I must say though, that I probably didn't put enough promoter on there or form them quite right...but other than that mine still looks just as nice as it did the day I put it on. I am very pleased with the product and customer service from edashkit and would recommend them to anyone without any qualms whatsoever.
Put a full "Brushed Aluminum" kit in my 2007 HHR LT. If you follow directions carefully, clean good and use the 3M chemicals supplied in the kit, You should have a clean install that will last a long time...I dropped a couple of pix, but the glare doesnt do justice...Purchased from a site off of Ebay, Brooklyn N.Y seller. Pleased with results.
I got mine form edashkits also. You just have to make sure the areas to were it is applied are cleaned and get extra promoter for the curved areas. Plus make sure the temp is right for the application.
I got my dash kit from Edash kits and finally had some warm weather to get it installed last week. Makes this car look so much nicer!
It was not that hard to do and most pieces did not require the promoter. Just make sure the temp outside is nice and sunny + 15*C/ +65*F and warm up your pieces on the dash sunlight about 5 minutes before you install them.
Here are some before and after pics! Enjoy

Very nice NEHHRD! Thanks for the photos. I'm going to order some samples from EDash this week. We think/hope the Titanium Burlwood will look good with the grey interior and white exterior.
