I would recommend removing at them if possible. I painted mine in place. It took a few years but the foil backing on the back bow tie eventually disintegrated and nearly fell off.
I think I've found the way to go... remove - repaint - reattach. :) Thanks everyone...
Careful masking and prep, it's not a problem. The back one actually had fallen off, (the clear plastic part.) I repaired and reattached it before painting in place on the car.
