Proper term for setup in the above pic., is a "Air Dam". A front air splitter is a different animal.
air dams are curb eaters, so you have to be careful, how low you go. Air splitters are a little more forgiving.
Bear in mind, the ones in my sig. pic. are highly exaggerated, and cartoonish. "Moon"

Thats what I thought he was asking about too....thats lawn edging he used on that mod, but if he wanted to go larger thats where Speedway would come in, plus with a litle engineering the dam can be made flexible ( as in folding) so if you pop a curb stone it doesn't tear off, just folds back....

That lawn edging wouldn't be so bad as a cheaper route but i am wanting to mount it higher(right under the fog lamps) so from the side it flows with the body line of the side skirts. if that makes any scense. in my opinion, half panels fabrication there is way to low and like others have said, you would have to be super careful cause it would scrape everywhere. if i think about it long enough ill come up with something...lol As always though, tossing the idea around amongst the community is always fun

i'm going to work with the idea of doing it in the back once it warms up. I want to hide my hitch more. Would love to just get an SS rear bumper, but that isn't happening...

@ twistrman: If the SS bumper's too much $, I saw that ExtremeDimensions shows a bodykit for the HHR that has a rear bumper that mimics the SS rear almost identically, but w/ two exhaust cutouts. You might look at that as an alternative.

Thanks for posting the pic. Not something I'd do, the frost heaves around here would be scraping all the time. But I've got to say it is creative, is nicely done and inspiration for other projects. I wish it was easier to review modifications posted by others, there are so many.
