Front and rear Bowties

Are the front and rear bowties held in with adhesive, the same as the letters? I'm thinking of completely debadging the rear and was wondering how retarded the front would look without a bowtie.

Yes they are held on with 3M adhesive.
Check Sindy Dix gallery she has removed the bowtie front and rear.

Well I'm painting my front grill black as we speak. I'll post up pics later tonight after the 2384729348 coats of clear coat I intend on using. I'm not looking for a perfectly matching grill, but a matte black grill will be acceptable....I'm hoping atleat.

I really dig that rear bar where you shaved the remnants of the Bowtie indentations. Well I finished masking and painting my front grill tonight, and needless to say I didn't have the patience to sand the plastic to ensure proper primer adhesion (i.e. when I pulled the tape off, the paint came with it). I still put it on and like the look, minus the imperfection, but I ordered a black chrome grill from GMpartsdirect.com. I'll post pics in a few...

i am doing this to my '09 SS panel even before day 1. i always go with the debadged look on my cars. i hate to advertise for free. i won't even have my SS panel for 4 or 5 more weeks, yet i have a new tailgate applique to modify like SindyDix did on hers.

when my car arrives, i will remove all the emblems, SS included, and add my smoothed out applique to the rear gate. i will also order a new SS grill to modify before my car comes in. i don't want that big emblem on the front either.

SindyDix, your hhr looks great. i love the color matched theme. has anyone painted the inside of their headlights yet. that would finish your car completely.
