I can always peel them off and have them painted, but for now I want to see how the silver grows on me. It's not a perfect match to the satin finish on the grill but it's pretty close. To me they resemble the headlight housings I was used to when I drove 2-seaters from British Leyland back in the 60's and 70's.

As for painting, I wonder what would be involved since these things are basically just pieces of vinyl with a glossy finish. Would I have to strip the color off first?

If it is just vinyl you can paint and then clear coat. The vinyl should take the paint.
