Heads up for engine compartment appearance mod

If anyone is interested in showing some pride in their American-built powerplant, go to yearone.com and order part #DC96. Then affix to your valve cover/air cleaner/firewall/etc. and brag a bit.

This part number will get you a $3.90 valve cover decal used on Tonawanda engines from 1967-1971 which reads: "BUILT BY CHEVROLET TONAWANDA: THE NUMBER 1 TEAM."

Before I show in July at GM Powertrain, I plan on getting at least one of these.

Were the Ecotecs built at Tonawonda?

I was under the impression that the Ecotecs are assembled in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

They're assembled at both plants, but the Spring Hill Ecotecs are the specialty ones (i.e. the 2.0 Turbo), and any standard ones they build go strictly into Saturns. Tonawanda produces the lion's share of the Ecotecs used by the rest of GM in '06-'07, they build them for the following:
CHEVY
Cobalt (2.2 and 2.4 only)
HHR
Malibu

PONTIAC
G5/Pursuit
G6
Solstice (2.4 only)

Both of the cars in my household have Tonawanda engines: my 2.2 HHR and my wife's 2.4 G6.

I think I'll get a decal for the HHR and also one for the 2002 Suburban with the 8.1L V8 big-block, also built in Tonawanda.

Desert Coyote - I hope to see you there at the plant car show in Tonawanda in July!
