HHR carbon fiber hood

Update 2: I've been talking with extreme I've given them our designs oem, louvered, cowl, and scoop. Now is anyone on here local to socal they need an oem hood for designing and testing.

Update: this was the first step to new hoods. Next I'll email extreme and see where we go next in this process and I'll send them our ideas.

The more people on the list the sooner these hoods can come to market. So let's keep this list going!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys I know that this topic has been brought up before but I would love to have a carbon fiber hood for our wagons. the weight savings alone I feel like would be worth it plus they look great.

In order for this to happen We need a minimum of 10 people and two rough designs to get started. obviously oem will be one for ease of manufacturing the other is open for debate. If your interested you can either pm or just comment on this post extreme dimensions isn't on here so I'll inform them when we get ten people. The more we get the better our shop.

This doesn't require payment this is just a list of who is interested.

I made mine back in 07, It wasn't that hard. I seperated the skin from the cross brace and just epoxied it back to the carbon skin I pulled off the hood.

Maybe a functional hood scoop.
Or a scoop just to keep the engine bay a bit cooler

Im in agreement with Harpman
The engine bay does get hot. what would be cool is some kind of hood scoop? that could act as a ram air/cold air inlet and maybe some vents on the hood to keep the engine compartment cooler..I would be in if the hood has three functions 1. Cold air/ram air 2. vents to keep engine cooler 3. the hood would be much lighter.

Sure I'm interested but not if it's a $800-1000 hood and I'm afraid that's what it's going to end up costing.
