Question HHR Splash Guard paint

I just got a set of GM HHR splash guards with "HHR" on the rear pair. Has anyone tried painting those letters so they stand out? Seems a counter productive to have black letters on a black background.

I mean, like, if no one can read 'em, what's the point?

I am going to paint mine in a crome or gray. I painted my mud flaps to match the paint of the car even though its black. The mud flaps looked faded, so I put some plastic primer on and then the paint. It still looks good after 4 months with no chips or anything. I just haven't had time to paint the letters yet. (Work 10 hours a day)

I believe these came from Chevy with painted Bowties. *LINK* for that thread. But this gives an idea of what it would look like if you decide to paint over the HHR script.

If you use keywords flaps, splash, paint in the search feature, you will find alot more!

I have used model paint a few places and it seems to have worked fine!

I hope that helps.

Thanks Sindy, I was aware of the bowtie guards, but they just seemed to generic. The link takes me to a page dealing with URL standards.

I'm hoping to find rattle-can paint that matches the car color, and either masking off the "HHR" so it remains black, or painting the letters a different color. I suppose they need to be sanded before painting? All the instructions say is to clean them with acetone and paint away. I like the second option, but I'd rather not see the paint flaking off in a month.

Well at least I won't be all alone now. C'mon in Sindy...the water is great. There's a hot tub over here.
