Thank you for this tread. Just got done doing this. I redrew your templetes in autocad and made them slightly wider. :) Same concept and all. I got my tube from lowes for $5.49. Looks great.
Thanks again man.

Great idea!
How did I miss this thread?
Thanks a lot
I just had factory ones put on and like them. I also have the running boards, so the sandblasting is not real bad.

Still, I can see how the fronts would benifit being lower. Perhaps I'll modify the factory ones by adding some plastic, but I do not think that would look god. Or I may replace them with your concept.
Thanks again!

Mine are working great. They are cheap, easy to make, and they keep 95% of the debris fro being thrown up onto the paint. I do have the factory flaps on the rear, but that's not so critical.

i got chevy truck splash guards for $15 a pair at Chevy. 2000 to 2006 trucks
you have to trim them if you want it to look professional because of the way the back is set up. front is easy.

i did a post on them w pics
you dont have to cut them vertically w the slit, it just makes them stronger. you can make a horizontal cut
here is the post
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ighlight=flaps

found some mud flaps or splash guards and only $14.99 which kind of shocked me- Part# 12497439. they came w all kinds of mounting screws. nuts and fender locks to hold them down. i put the 2 on back and now 2 on front

put on these mud flaps today and got rid of the HHR ones. They wrap around the edge and it gets dirt in there and it is scratching the paint. I had to really rub the paint to get off the marks.

so i bought them and had to do some adjustments to make them fit and here are the pics

Thumbs up

Nice job. I did the same thing but kept the plastic factory ones in place, which I noticed when moving my old car to a storage facility while a friend drove the HHR, acts kind of like a backbone and keeps the flexible extension from blowing back at higher speeds and exposing more space between the flap and the ground. Thanks for the idea, as I really didn't want the running boards, and reasoned that even with the boards, the car is still being damaged, just not where it's visible. This works great, no marks at all on the fenders or doors.

I'm thinking about these flaps on my black HHR ,the red would look nice.
I'm wondering if i could use mikex's idea and cut these to fit right.

But i like these too that have a nice fit, but no red on them,

No sure what to do.
