Thanks for all the good comments. The car came from Copart insurance auctions. It was wrecked in the left rear corner and I got a Salvage title with it. The seat will go back to the full extension and is the same as the original HHR. Painting (RED) will be finished by Friday and I will put the chrome and stripes on it this weekend. I will try to get the finished pictures up this weekend. Thanks again for all of the good words.

For those of us that are uninformed re a Salvage title. Does that mean you could take a "wrecked " vehicle and put it back on the road if it passed a safety check of a higher degree or something?
I have heard on the BJ auction the other day of some other type of title that sounded like the vehicles cannot be street driven legally.

 

The salvage title auto can be made road worthy after repairs are made the it passes the safety inspection (Texas). When you sell it, you have to divulge that it has a salvage title (planily stated on the title) and the price is adjusted accordingly. What it means is that the cost of repair exceeds the value of the car and the insurance company writes it off and gives the owner the "book" value of the vehicle. Some cars at barret jackson are sold with a bill of sale only, I believe that is a car that was never titled and can not be titled do to it being a prototype or such.

 

how can this pass safety? does it have to be done in a licensed body shop for these kind of things to pass safety? or is it all in the hands of the shop that does the "safety" inspection...
just wondering how this would retain crash safety considering half the car is gone..i want to research this to see if such thing can be done here in canada and pass the safety here
