Hood louvers

To you SS guys wanting to shed excess underhood heat (AaronSS), maybe these GM pieces would work nicely...94-96 Grand Prix louvers...pretty cheap from GMPartsDirect:

Louver Right 94-96 $66.30 $40.68

Louver Left 94-96 $66.30 $40.68

borrowed Ebay pic isn't the best, but you get the idea!

Here's a set done on a Jeep...I think these may be larger ones from an earlier year...http://www.dpgoffroad.com/projectdd/...dhoodvents.htm

And another on a jeep:http://www.oman4x4.com/hoodventinstall.htm#install

I was just thinking about this very idea, but rather removing the hood and having it louvered old school style with like 4 rows, 2 longer rows in the middle and 2 shorter rows on the outside! I wonder how it would look and how much it would cost to get done?

Just out of curiosity, I understand these are meant to pull or allow hot air to escape from the engine compartment, but what if you were to reverse the louvers, even making them slightly bigger, to allow cool outside air to be pushed into the engine bay? I understand this would create a very filthy engine bay, but just for curiosities sake what do you think of the functionality of this idea?

I think theres already plenty of air coming in from the front and bottom, thats the way modern cars are designed. So louvers on the top would work best if they are extracting air, thus angled toward the back.
I would like to see them retro-style on the sides of the hood. Not a lot of room and a curved surface, so probably some skilled metalwork involved.
