Hood Ornaments!

I found this hood ornament from a link that Skatetheglobe posted in a thread from Holmes Hot Ride. I think this would look so cool with Holmes' rails.....

I've been questioning how a hood ornament would look on an HHR, I'm not so sure if it could be pulled off. It may look a little out of place, but it sure would be interesting to see if the style works.

When you cut your strips for the piping, did you have to rechrome the cut areas? How did you cut them? All the stuff I've seen online is chrome plated pvc.

Because my car is black I did not have to do anything to the chrome pieces except measure and cut. At the fender well I made a straight cut with and exacto or rasor knife. The most important cut of all will be next to the door where it meets the fender. Allow yourself about 1/4 of an inch and then cut at a 45 degree angle. What I used is 3/4" Chrome plated pvc or plastic with a black center. Unless you inspect it real close and do a bad cut job, you cant't tell the difference.

Because your car is blue, I think I would go with the solid chrome. Do you have A Pep Boys in your area? If you do, you can take the moldiing out to your car and put it up against it to decide the type of molding you will use.

Yeah, I've already decided that plain chrome would be the way to go on mine. I just wasn't sure if the stuff cut so you could see the plastic under the chrome or not. We don't have a Pep Boys but we've got Auto Zone and O'Riley's. I figured I would check there. I found some online but they wanted $4.95 a foot with a 20 foot minimum order. I figured I could find a better deal locally.
