Infared HHR and my first mod...
Hi all, The rain has let up and it is time to begin the modding.
It has rained everyday I have owned the HHR
Bought a Carbon fiber bumper guard to start things off.

I think I'll remove the dealer's name as well. Never cared on most of my cars, but this one is special

While it does not actually match the chrome, it is interesting and spices the area up. It fit OK, but could have been curved along the back to fit better there.
Gonna spruce the HHR up some more if I can get some decent roll chrome that will stick well. I figure the tail lights need a chrome surround as do the wheel wells.
Looking at the HHR from the side, I see the need for chrome running along the running boards to bring the front and back together, Perhaps the sidepipes, though I'd rather they'd function.I'd be tempted to fill them with tacky lights or something!
I have an infared modified Canon DSLR and tried it on the car:

Infared always surprises me. Since it is non visible light, the results are never actually predicatble.
I have a thread in a photo forum with more examples if anyone is interested:

If the rain holds off, I got a Carriage House lower grill and some SoCal door lock stumps to install. The thing is, two more days of rain are predicted
Anyway, this is one fun car! Thanks fer lookin'

Yes, it becoming more common. Several shops will modify any number of existing Digital SLRs for infared purposes.
I used these folks:

I loved the look for years, but shooting infared film was too constraining for a non-pro. Infared digital made it so much more approachable.
A decent digital capture nd some detailed post-processing makes for interesting images!
Here is another with a little character in it:

Here's another, a little OT but what the heck:
My friend Audra has a lot of large red blotches on her face. A result of lupus, a disease she endures. She has never been happy with any pictures of herself, but instantly liked this quick snap as it ignored the visible and showed her face the way SHE wants to see herself.

Congrats on the first mod! And so it begins... lol
