installing driving lights
got a set of spyder lights in today, planning to mount them sometime next week, looking for some helpfull advice on running wires and etc. since battery isnt up fron im worried about finding a 12 volt battery hot to hook the relay to as well as mounting positiong and wiring the switch. any hints etc would be great!
anyone else with some helpfull advice on wiring these up, i do these alot just never on something like the hhr, with rear battery and all that, and i dotn want to run a power lead to the trunk if i can help it... ah well guess ill just do it...lol
Just a simple opinion......
But, Solmans suggestion is the most professional. If you wire "hot" to the battery and for some reason you forget to manually turn off the running lights (assuming you are installing the correct wire size, fuse and switch) you will kill the battery. And that could be a pain, as some members have indicated.
If you wire FROM the ignition control fuse, the lights will turn off, if you walk away from the car. Sounds like the right thing to do, to me.
If you wire HOT from the battery, I would suggest an illuminated rocker switch to indicate when the running lights are on. Might save you some greeeeeffffff.

ok ill be running a relay set up, ill need an acc source inside the car for the switch which will then run out to the relay. ill need a 12 volt to the battery that will be the actual power for the lights. for inside the car i usually use the fuse for the cig lighter, throw in an add a circuit and run that to the switch. just wasnt real sure how i was going to run the 12 volt battery power.
now i hope i can talk her out of using the guarded switch that came with the lights....
