Gaudy is my friend!
Nothing like the over done chrome of the 40's and 50's will ever be seen again on cars..(unless I put it there.) Besides my other car is a bike. I'm no stranger to chrome.
Made a paper outline of the curvature of the bottom of the Piece, cut it out measured screw centers. I put that on the hood to see where flush placement would be,
I bought a roll of Rubber Mastic tape to use between the piece and the hood to keep water out. Traced the piece and cuut out the rubber and attached to bottom of the piece.
Red line were drawn on the piece where the screw holes would be.
I bought a cutter for the dremel and from under the hood after measuring the placement from the rear to front of the hood I cut a small hole through the hood. I then used a power drill to complete the hole.
Attached the piece front only and put a finish nail in the rear hole using putty and etched where the rear hole would go.
This time I drilled through the top of the "tin foil" hood and through the second plate underneath. Attached the screw being carefil not to tighten too much as there is a gap between the hood and the support plate buckling the hood.
Took about an hour. I'm going to add a trim strip from the rear of the ornament to the windshield like the vintage Chevy had,,,,,,,You ain't seen gaudy yet!!!!!

So, how's the ornament attached? And was there any special preping needed to fit the ornament on?
