Thank CH i thought that might be the case, but i cant see in the led cover which side is - or +

 

It's not that big of a deal if you stick it in backwards. I stuck mine in backwards at first. All that happened is it didn't light up. I reversed it and it worked fine.

 

Sweet! got it in! thanks for your help.Actually after i went back outside the - and + are red and black easy too see. On to more cool things to do.

I made an attempt at this mod with less than desirable results. First of all I made my mistake buying a 12 volt red LED (part # 276-209) from Radio Shack. The light is very dim. I think my mistake is the voltage is too high? The two blue LEDs they had were 3.7 volts and 5 volts. I guess that is what I should have bought? Then there was the little cover. I don't have a sunroof, and no matter where I pulled it was not coming off, so I removed the visors and side pilar covers and pulled it down just far enough to get my hand in while looking through the windshield (think of twister). There is a wire that holds the bulb in and is easily removed. After that I pulled the conection from the top of the headliner (held in place by glue). It came off pretty easy. I then had enough wire to get the bulb past the headliner at the windshield to replace the bulb. I bit more problematic than those with a sunroof, but it can be done.

 

Here is how I fixed the light and it still works.
Sorry forgot to get a pic to post, it is a piece of shrink tube cut at a slight angle and it fits the led.

so which voltage LED light is correct 12, 3.7, or 5. Also, without a sunroof will that plastic piece pull straight out?
