Mud Flaps & Bug Deflector

Hi all. I'm a first time HHR owner and just purchased a nice black 2009 LT HHR.

I'm a little concerned about all the bugs and rocks that will chip my paint on the hood of the car. Does anyone have a recommended bug deflector for a 2009 HHR? Are they easy to install or should you have a professional install it?

Also, I'm reading some of the pro's and con's of people installing mud flaps. I've heard that if you do get mud flaps, to make sure to screw them in so they don't wiggle free and scratch your paint. I have running boards, so can you still install front wheel mud flaps? Or do the running boards get in the way so all you can install are the rear?

Thanks everyone and looking forward to chatting with you all.

The bud flaps are a direct bolt on. Definately get them. They fit with or without the running boards.

The bug deflector is an easy install usually. But on a HHR, it looks like a mustache.....

If you're worried about the paint getting chipped, you really should consider getting a bra instead of the bug shield. The bug shield only really protects the area right above the grill, leaving a lot of hood unprotected. Click for example of what goose's HHR looks like w/ shield...........

As soleman stated w/ or w/o the running boards, mud flaps will fit. I installed just the rears on Dory. Only a 5 minute job, even being lowered a bit. Here's a pic of what Dory is sporting..........
