I looked at the nerf bars and it could work, but I would have to cut some openings for led's or something because there is something missing, looked at side pipes because I ran them on a couple of vans back in the day, but the running boards win out, they look the best and provide the rock chip protection, so I am going back to the dealership to buy a pair...unless of course SocalHHR sees them coming in the near future...hinit, hint!!!

Now I forgot to mention the Horse Ugly stainless steel rocker panel covers that I have seen offered...Yikes!!! Of course, that I just my opinion, so if you have purchsed them, or are considering them for your vehicle...what the hell do I know, no offense intended.

I'm with Socal, nerfs belong on off road or lifted trucks.

Hmmmm, I'm not fond of nerf bars on a non off road vehicle. But if the look of chrome pipe along the bottom sides is what's appealing I think I would go with lake pipes. They don't offer the protection of the running boards, but they're better protection than nothing. I would also recommend the mud flaps. I have the 70" pipes on my HHR and they almost fill the rocker area completely from front to rear wheel openings.

Well you brought it up and he's your friend, so it looks like the task of just saying no falls on you. Don't they call this intervention or something like that...

Intervention....I like that. Yeah. I guess this is. I'll make sure he reads this thread in the morning and hopefully, it'll scare him straight.
