New-B with an LT2 and some questions!

Hey all!
I'll start by introducing myself. My name is SGT Marc Garcia and I am a soldier currently deployed in Iraq. I was home (Long Island, NY) on leave about 2 weeks a go and bought a suuuuu-weeeet 2006 black LT and I gotta tell you, I love it!

Anyway, when I get home in June, a black 3-bar grille will be the 2nd mod...The first is a set of black 18" wheels.

My question is will going from a 17" to an 18" affect the speedometer accuracy at all/a little/a lot?

Back to the 3-bar: How do you attach the mesh to the back of the grille?

Now, she has a bit of sandblasting on the rear quarters, a common problem I have noticed throughout the forum due to no running boards. Since I am the 2nd owner, will the warranty still cover it? She still has a year and 15000 before the warranty runs out (I plan on extending it anyway once I get home).

Last is I wanna paint the dash...I have a feeling a dash kit may just look a little too cheesy...Opinions? I am swayed towards paint but i was wondering about its durability-how will it hold up against chipping and scratching?

Thanks for all your help! For those of you on the eastern seaboard, keep your eyes out for a blacked-out LT2 towing a blacked-out Harley Davidson V-Rod Night Rod Special and a Black Labrador Retriever named "Jack" sticking his head out the window...The "Black Jack Express"! After this tour I'll be taking the rest of the year off and hitting all the bike rallies and HHR events-hope to see you there!

PS: Why wont the forum let me post attachments?

If you are free in July you might think about meeting up with Chevygrlalways (from Jersey) and coming to the : 2nd Annual HHR Cedar Point Meet.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the info, Jeff. I know it sounds lazy but I didn't want to keep calculating what my actual speed was. At 2-3% I'm not gonna worry about it!

C'mon now, I see alot of awesome 3-bar grilles out there...What's the secret to attaching the mesh???

Welcome to the site! Enjoy your new ride. For the dash, you should check out Wood Dash Experts at www.wooddashexperts.com. They have a great selection of solid colors, carbon fiber and silmulated mult-color weave carbon fiber. Their kits are very reasonable and high quality. You can get kits in two configurations depending on how many pieces you want. Worth looking in to. I have a wood kit on order from them for my HHR.

HI Tim-Gotta love the Music City...
I have checked them out and liked the black 56 piece set...But I read somewhere else in the forum that the trim kits have visible spaces due to it being held on with 3M. Your thoughts?

Best bet would be to pay the $5 like I did to have them send you 5 sample pieces. You can see what the thickness looks like that way. I would also recommend browsing the various pics they have of different installs to see what you think. I was pretty impressed with their fit. I've looked at a lot of different companies -- not all look very good. I say the $5 is worth it to see the final material and how it looks in your vehicle.

"Back to the 3-bar: How do you attach the mesh to the back of the grille?"

Here's a How To on the 3 Bar Grille.
