New HHR - Racing Stripes?
Well i guess this is my first post, Just got a 2010 HHR on the 30th (December) and I love it. But well now all the things I want to do with it are stacking up. But the first thing I want to do are to add a pair of broad racing stripes. I just dont know where to get them and looking for some pictures of what they may look like. Wanted to see if anyone here has them or can give me some Ideas. I was thinking if just going to a vynal company that does logos and have them do it? Any help would be great.

I too am new to my HHR SS and this forum. I was watching the Mecum auto auctions on Velocity and saw a Vette w/ one wide white stripe w/ red pinstripes on the edge. Thinking this would look amazing. Any suggestions on the color combo for a Silverstone HHR? Was thinking charcoal w/ red pins?

Welcome Jchurchward. Auburn ? you are only a few miles away, might want to come to the next get together, check the Northwest region thread. A guy named "moon" did some great carbon fiber stripes check His gallery. I have some headlight faces custom painted for your color....

Cheapest option is going to be plasti dip. Did my hood and it looks great. I know others have done entire rides but it works great for stripes as long as you peel your tape while the dip is still wet. Total cost of my hood stripes was under $10 and all supplies were purchased at Home Depot.

I work for the worlds largest vehicle vinyl wrap supplier. Any local sign shop can design/cut/install your stripes. I would make sure they use a high quality cast 2 mil vinyl. There are basically two types of sign vinyl: 3 mil calendared and 2 mil cast. The 3 mil is basically a short term (3-5 years) vinyl designed to be used on flat surfaces or very moderate curves. It isn't recommended for vehicle lettering due to the fact that it is calendared (squeezed and stretched) during the manufacturing process. This stretching gives the vinyl memory and over time it will want to eventually come back to it's original dimensions.
A 2 mil cast product has 7-9 year durablity. It is poured onto a casting sheet instead of being squeezed between steel calendar rolls. It is much more stable and that is what you want on a vehicle. Brutal heat and artic temps play havoc with cheaper PSV's.
(3M, Oracal, or Avery) are all great brands so I would insist your sign shop use one of these brands. They make them in many different colors and many different finishes. Good luck.
