New Rims

I'm thinking about getting new rims for my LS. What are the advantages/disadvantages of going up to a 17" or 18" as opposed to staying with 16"?
One advantage with staying with 16" is that I assume I can probably keep my stock tires.
Do people go up in size just for the look? I imagine it might change the handling a bit also, but is it really noticable?
Thanks in advance.

The larger the rim the more it jars your ride, makes your tires wear faster, and makes it easier for the tire to come off your rim.

Alrighty then. That's one vote for staying with the 16's.

17"s and 18"s should be cool. I have a 2LT so it came with 17"s from the factory.

Rims

You're in Michigan. Can you even think about putting expensive rims on with Winter weather, salt? If I were thinking of buying nice rims, they would be for Summer only and stock rims for Winter.JMHO

The HHR won't be driven as much in the summer. I will ride a motorcycle at lot in the summer.
The wife will drive it some, but not as much as I will in the winter.
It's valid point. But,those steel rims with a hubcap don't look good at all. Especially when compared with the LT rims.
