painting the hhr finally
Respect
i have pretty much decided to only do the front bumper. i have the patch pieces in and mostly glued but it was a pain. about 6 hors worth of work and i still gotta pull the bumper off to add some strength to the back. like everything else this went from a week to about a months worth of work
i thought about molding in that black part. i may just paint it though. unless i have to get more of the fusor to finish the humps. it was about $20 for enough to do the 2 humps.
When we had some front end work done to my wife's, we had them paint the black bumper insert to match the body color. Turned out nice and really makes it much less noticeable.
hey, garagebuilt, i saw you say something somewhere about not doing the rear bumper smoothing, correct? personally, i would say to take the time and get the rear done to match the front, or stylistically i don't think it will look right, having the little bumper pads in the back but not the front, and since you haven't painted it yet, now would be the best time to do it, rather than ruin that perfectly good paint job to do it later on. ya know what i mean? just pitching my two cents. other than that, your work so far looks amazing! i love the look you're going for, the air ride setup came out wonderfully, and i really like your idea for the paint scheme, i even love the split design you showed taped out. kudos for getting so far into such a new vehicle, not a lot of people have that bravery. i would love to try a few things, but don't have the tools, cash or know-how to do a lot of what you're accomplishing.
i just dont know how well the bumper will hold up. if i have to replace the bumper it will only be the front. i wish now that i wouldnt have started. i still have plenty to do so who knows
