panel storage box removal
Just took the storage box out of my panel . Its a two piece setup with the storage box sitting inside a surprisingly rigid metal frame that could be used as a amp rack. The whole thing has to weigh at least 100 lbs and it gives a ton of space for customizing . Sorry if this is old news but I searched and could not find much info on the forum about removal , so if anybody wants me to post pics on how to I will gladly do so. I dont know what way I want to go yet was thinking maybe a thin two piece bench and a huge flip down any ideas or pics.....

I'd like to see pictures as well. I'm starting to get a rattle from somewhere in there and it's starting to get annoying. Just wondering how hard it is to remove.

Its not hard at all to remove. I did it in about 30 min in my moms driveway in the dark , it is good to have someone to help you pull it out because its kinda awkward and the metal frame has very sharp edges. I will try to take some pics today and get them posted...

Took mine out as well. Very well made and a bit more engineering that I suspected. I needed my impact gun. The bolts that stick out on the front portion need some protection, but I'm pleased with thr results.

I can't wait to see the pics! My wife and I have a 08 black panel and would like to put a flip down bench back there so if we need to haul any human cargo we can.
Has anyone added a seat back there yet? I was wondering if storage mounts are the same location as seat mounts or if I'll have to engineer them in there. We will prob end up putting just a lap belt in. If anyone has any pics of the storage boxes removed if would be nice to see what you have put inplace! This site is heaven for a aircraft structure mechanic with an HHR needing some old skool'in put to it ;) |
