PT Cruiser People LOVE their mods!!

I'm writing to whine a bit and to ask questions. I love my car so much, but last weekend, seeing the PT people (at the Cruise for a Cure) with all their cool mods --- it was just KILLING ME. I am so anxious to see more custom parts becoming available for reasonable prices, my gosh those CRUISER magazines are chock full of "stuff".

Any of you know how long the PT was out before this started happening for their cars? How many of you think our car will get popular enough to have it happen for us? I get so impatient when I see how few cool wheel options we have and I can't just replace my window locks for a while, and then switch them back... nothing is findable at your local auto parts store or easy to do. I want a cute sounding car horn, but most of the online places don't sell anything for my car yet. And auto truck toys has about 2 on their site, I think.

Just think about it the pt was made in 01. So they have had some time on us. But you also have to think and picture things and changed them. Be the first to do things or if you have an idea then just ask alot of us have been customizing rides for a long time.

Only thing I can tell ya little lady...is patience is a virtue...and as hard as that may be sometimes, we're all coping with it as best we can.

Rome wasn't built in a day...and unfortunately neither are aftermarket HHR parts. I feel your pain, believe me I do. I'm sure many aftermarket suppliers are waiting to see if the HHR "takes off" like the PT Cruiser did before they sink a ton of cash into stuff for our cars.

We are very lucky we have Mike from SoCalHHR's and our other supporting vendors who believe in this car and are willing to take the plunge. As others sit back and contemplate doing the same, these vendors are gaining a huge edge on them and developing a very loyal group of customers.

Thanks to all our vendors who believe in the HHR and see our visions and understand our need to mod this very cool car.

Becareful what you ask for...you might get it

At one time the PT-Cruiser was unique...now it seems like you can't drive a mile without seeing one. The popularity make them very cost effective for producing aftermarket parts, unfortunatley they're anything but rare or unique. In fact they seems to be very popular at the retirement homes now that Oldsmobile has shut down....I know the REAL COOL retired folks drive HHRs

The HHRs been out for over a year and I still get strangers asking me about it, can't even park at Walmart without someone coming up to check out my ride. Bet if you bought a PT, once the family and friends are done checking it out its a lonely ride.

Personal I hope they quite making HHRs....after they make the SS of course.

Let your imagination go wild. All it takes is money. So spend, spend, and spend some more. How about sectioning it, a little chop job, new hood, front bumpers, and a rolled rear deck, a custom made spoiler, air bags, a new sound system, Ricaro seats, 5 point belt system, deer skined leather seats, of courst they must rotate for easy of getting in and out. Then comes the motor, let the money flow

Just let me know if you want some more ideas.

See ya down the road.

The aftermarket parts and accessories are not coming out as fast as we would like... just look at the Scion.. when it came out almost 6 months later Toyota started introducing aftermarket accessories for it. They knew what people wanted to customize their rides.

GM will eventually smarten up, I hope.

Well, I sure wouldn't have a problem with owning an "original", hard to find, collectible, car. And I think I can be patient, waiting for cool mods to come around. But I AM eager to see some more of "me" around town. And I'm very jealous of my DH's car club in that they are very active and sizeable... but once again, the waiting will be worth it, I know. And, please forgive me for not giving Kudo's to our sponsors, as I am still figuring out where to learn that info. I see a few posting often (thank goodness for them) but is there a list or link somewhere?

Mitzi...there are two ways to see our vendors here at ChevyHHR.net.

1. On the top of each page there is always a banner in the center of the page under the main site page. Click on the words supporting vendor index and it will take you to a page of all their banners with links.

2. On the main forum index page, scroll down to the Marketplace. There is a supporting vendor board there. Lots of info and details on new products are there.

Hope this helps you a bit.
