Quick vent mod

My latest mod. I painted the trim around my new radio Sport Red to match my exterior (and steering wheel). Next, I painted the inside vent grill above it. I would love to figure out how to get the 2 side vents out-any suggestions?

Then, I will try to get the inside door handle trim (black) out to paint red, and finish it off by painting the small circle that covers the torque bolt yellow to match my flames.

Before anybody asks, the red sticker is a warning that nobody can drive my car due to the left foot accelerator. (Remember I am an amputee)
Note-the pedals are easily removable, but I don't tell anybody. This way, if I go to a parking lot I insist on parking the car myself and locking it

Pretty cool. I know you can get to the side vents by popping off the panels on the sides of the dash but I haven't tried to remove the vents yet.

I recently did a lot of interior painting on mine as well (blue). I painted the center vents, but have yet to get the side vents off. I'm thinking its one of those remove the entire dash type projects, which I plan to do... just haven't had the time/motivation yet....

Looks good, Nice job. I see a few things different on the console. What is in the area for the passenger airbag? Or what looks like a button above it?

And why does it look like I see a right foot?

Are you required to have the warnig label by law? Or do you have it so that do one else will drive your car?

Label is just to prevent others from driving my car.

The 3 buttons are for air horn, siren, and to turn off back-up beeper. The plug above it is a 12 volt supply for radar detector so it does not take up cigarette lighter and block radio access.

Right leg you see is a prosthesis.

Lee3333....
Nice job. Kind of "sets" your car off as a 'one-off". I kind of like it.

Since we are asking questions...what is the "holder" above your prosthesis?

It's located about the same as one I had for carrying a gun (exercised my Constitutional and State rights for CCW). But I removed it...driver area is cramped and it got in the way.

I looked in my HHR factory service manual to see how the vents at the end of the dash are removed. Unfortunately, you have to remove the dash and then you can get at the 3 screws that hold it in from behind. Removing the dash is a pretty big project, especially just to remove 2 vents. Sometimes you can come up with an "unofficial" removal method which involves bent screwdrivers, etc . I haven't actually looked to see if it was possible to take a short cut. But if I really wanted to remove the end vents I sure would look for a shortcut before having to remove the dash.
