Cool At Rainbow's end HHR photo

A couple more photos from a little later in the day yesterday . If you have a decent calibrated monitor you will see the rainbows. A primary and a supernumary are visible. No penumbra, but one cannot have it all!
Besides, Katy ran out to make the picture complete and stunning to me anyway )

A flash squall had just cleared the area..........

Hmm, what is missing from the top photo that is in the bottom photo?
Hint: It is not the rainbow......

Yeah, it is that other car in the background. I crudely Photoshopped it out in the top picture "There can be only one"( car that is)

After the photos Katy ran around the neighborhood looking for a pot of gold! She is so much fun!

And she loves the HHR more than our Vibe. The rear seatbelts have a black adjusting strap attached which makes a huge difference to the seatbelt fit. Katy comments on this a lot.
She also would like a headrest DVD installed. I made the mistake of showing her a picture of a car with that setup
Actually, she is under control. The other day she could not get enough of having her window down and watching the world go by

I had originally placed this in the thread from another pic. I figured it deserved its own
Thanks fer lookin'

Sweet pic.
Thats a very cute kid you have there and I also like the HHR.
We just had a lightning storm last night. I tried for about an hour to get a pic of the HHR with lightning behind it, but no luck. I think it's a little harder than a rainbow. Great pic.

Great pic! You couldn't get that again if you tried to. The kiddo and the car go together so well with all that color in the background.

You need to have a camera that you can control the shutter speed and the aperture(?).

What you do is you basically let in a little light for a long time. This gives a chance for a lightning strike or two. This is how they take those photos of highways at night where the lights are bands of red and white.

Thanks yeshua! It is funny, I just typed basically the same response and then accidentally kicked the power supply off !
So here I am cruising back to actually write it again and you did it for me!

Anyway , it is as described, A tripod is your friend, keep the shutter open for a while and experiment. You can either use a self timer or a cable/electronic release for the shutter actuation.

Funny, I have been shooting since I was eight in 1968 and I have still to get a decent lightning shot Perhaps this will be a summer goal
Glad you liked the pic. Katy is an only child, so I probably shoot too much of her, but heck she likes it and is sometimes even a ham!

Here she is in front of a Roadmaster tellin' it like it is:

She get to the car shows this way:
