Question Rear Fender Rust

So I have the rust problem at the base of my rear doors and rear fender. I went and bought the running boards and I am going to fix the paint soon.
My problem is that the rust has started to get bigger and has started to move underneath of the factory fender protector. Has anyone removed these? Are there fasteners from the inside or is it held on with some sort of adhesive?

Thanks

I have sum started as well..same spot..what do u mean by factory protector??inner fender well??..as for the running boards they fasten underneath with torx head screws..should be 3 of them..look up..just above the jack points..
check my thread on lake pipes...I used the same fastener points for the pipes that the running boards use..

Those rear fender protectors are stuck on with adhesive tape I believe.... there are no fasteners.

There's two different types.... the older type were thick painted plastic and can be reused if carefully removed. Newer ones are clear tape throwaways.
