I spotted an HHR on eBay that was advertised as a 2007, but it didn't have running boards. I was surprised. Perhaps there was some initial confusion that factory-installed meant standard.

 

Went to the local Chevy dealer to make an appointment for the radio noise, and A/C wine. While there, I noticed some 2007 HHR'S. ALL had running boards installed.

Window sticker from G.M. listed " colour keyed running boards " as part of the STANDARD equipment for exterior.

Looks like Canadian dealers get them for FREE, no longer an option. Guess you guys in the states have more money to spend anyway.
