Satin trim care

Our HHR has the satin trim, which I really like. But I'm not sure what should be the unkeep on it. Is it paint or actually coated like chrome? I waxed our car the other Friday night and applied wax to the trim and on the door handles and roof rails in places look haisy. Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

The satin trim is a plastic coating (like "Chrome plastic"), so any wax will work fine.

I use Meguiar's Quick detailer in between waxes and it adds a nice coating that repels dirt and fingerprints. Most auto stores carry it.

For the roof rails, I would definitely recommend Meguiar's "Cleaner Wax."
It removes road residue and pollution fallout that can discolor and eventually damage your vehicles finish.

Every few months I do a full clean with the cleaner wax, then wax with Meguiar's Gold Class or NXT.

Hope it helps,

Cool Turtle Wax 'Ice"

Hello,

I have the bright chrome, but I use Turtle Wax 'ICE'...it is a clear wax, and the stuff is amazing. You can get it on the black trim, on anything, and you will have no marks like you do with a traditional white paste wax. I would think it should work really well on your satin chrome, as I haven't found anything yet that it doesn't work great on!

Thanks for the help SoCal. My HHR is black and I do use the Meguiers Cleaner wax and then use Granitize W-5 blue carnuba.

Thanks ymerej... I really like the white HHR's that was our orginal choice but we couldn't find one in our price range with the options we wanted.

Have a great one.

I myself use all of the Meguiers products. Cleaner wax, Quick detailer etc...
I use it on the chrome as well as the paint. Meguiers seems to work the best on black paint.

I didn't get the lingerie package, so I'm not sure about the satin trim.

I use all Mequiars products and haven't had a problem. The paint is shiny, the satin chrome looks great. I did cheat and use Mother's Back to Black on the rear bumper pad and antenna cover with good results.
