I live a couple hours away from this company and actually when I went to get my HHR today I saw a couple of these vehicles at the dealership selling for about $28,000. I just contacted them and asked for a cataloge. I guess I will just have to wait and see now.

Their website shows a list of vehicles that they customized and are selling.

Truly amazing mods on them... I think I've mentioned that I find their running boards look alot better than GM's.

Cool

I think this company is very good at ruining a perfectly designed vehicle like the HHR. I fell in love with the HHR the first time I saw a drawing of one before it was even a concept, and I think GM has created a design that flows perfectly from front to back. If this Southern Comfort version is what it had looked like from GM, there is no way I would have ever even considered one. $28,000? I just don't have anything else to say other than YUCK.

I love the looks of the SoCo mods, but I wouldn't pay $28K for one. I'm gonna have to find a way to get the body parts sold... Mike, you're a "body shop", try contacting them and see if we can go through you.

They replied that they wanted my shipping address and that they would be sending the spoiler, and what colour did I want it in.

So I said Majestic Amethyst Metallic, please!

We'll see.
Be very careful as you proceed. I haven't posted here in some time but just happened to notice your post. For the record, I was the very first person to buy one of their spoilers and approach them about selling their product. Unless things have changed drastically, you will get about 50 different stories about pricing structure, products, etc. The only reason they even know about this site is that I told them. Their parts guy seems to be a nice guy but his bosses change their stories with the wind. At one point they told me if an HHR club would buy $10K worth of parts they would "donate" $500.00 back to the club. In my book, that's a heck of a lot of spoilers. They probably gave you the story about wanting to show you their facility, take pictures with your HHR's, blah blah blah. They had made a commitment to take a couple of their customs to the "Biltmore bash" held earlier this year but then backed out at the last minute because they said there were not vehicles attending. They also told me they were going to donate some door prizes for that event, and that didn't happen either. Bottom line is, they want someone to do all of their legwork for them and then they want to reap all of the benefits.

They never mentioned or made any promisses like that to me. Here's the first email I got from them.

Hello,
My name is Billy Crocker and I work for the nations largest pickup truck, van, and SUV customizer, Southern Comfort Conversions. One of our newest lines to offer is the all new Southern Comfort Chevrolet HHR. This new and exciting conversion offers our own exclusive exterior cladding options, featuring running boards and rear spoilers. We also offer custom paint, wheels and tires, as well as exhilarating interior options featuring dash and door kits and leather seating options. This is all made possible by our own state of the art engineering and thermoforming facilities.
We, at Southern Comfort would love to share this HHR experience with you and the members of your club. We think it makes an already exciting vehicle simply irresistible. I look forward to hearing from you.

I only asked him for prices and maybe a few catalogues. I'm always leery of anyone who offers things like that... 'If it sounds too good to be true...'

I think the one you talked to must be a sales Rep for the West coast. The ones I dealt with were some of the owners. I live about 80 miles from them and that was the reason I was interested in their product line. I am not saying they are bad people all I'm saying is their story changed everytime I talked with them. I am not sure even they know what they want to do.

Sounds like it's pretty difficult to deal with these guys. I sent an email asking about getting running boards in september. I was told that in order to get the boards you have to get the whole package done. This had to be ordered or set up through one of their special dealers and then I would have to get my car to their shop. Seemed like a huge hassle to me especially because I'm in Canada. Sounds like they might be slowly realizing they could push more product selling parts to the public.

If something happens, I would still love those running boards.

Here's a copy of an email I just got from them.

Mr. Long,
Thanks for your interest in our HHR ground effects kit. Currently we are offering this kit at $1995.00 which includes step tread and braces, and of course all the cladding that you’ve seen. Please call me at the direct number below if I can be of further assistance.

All I had asked about were the running boards. At least they are selling the kit now though.
