To smooth, or not to smooth?
(If I do say so myself.) Actually my OL does the most of the leather work here...
But the dash looks a bit simpler to cover imo.
As long as you're textured, you're always going to have the "I painted my dash" look that the OEM pressure molds and solid color materials don't create.
However, you've taken on the smoothing of a lifetime. I recommend you measure your biceps, thumb, and forefinger diameters before you get started. Then measure again when you get done. You may just put on some serious muscle on this project!

Damn you XXL. I had that thought about the texture. As far as the biceps go, I used a palm sander on the gauge surround. The only part that will be a major PITA will be the RPD, but I may have a solution for that.....HeeHeeHeeHee.
