Teflon paint coating?

I just bought a 2010 HHR LT2 and it is in the dealer for a leak
at the same time they are removing the fallout-acid rain from the paint.
I was sold the Teflon coating and Scotch guard protection for the interior.
my question is Has anyone had this done to their HHR. does it change the apperance of the paint at all? Also what will happen if they dont get all the
fallout off before this crap is put on?
If you have had this done and regret it please speak up as its not too
late to tell them no.
I had it put in with the financing and I could care less about it if they are
going to cover over fallout and make it impossible to get out.
Please pipe up has I am worried that this may be a hugh mistake.
Thanks for reading.:mo nkeydance:

I'd make sure they are going to clay the car before they do anything else, on another note I think the teflon coating is a waste and only an additional money maker for the dealership, I'd just clay and wax my own, that way you'll take more pride in your ride

My dad used to have a line on liquid teflon , It's gone now. Teflon when put on a mint paint will keep crap from stickin to your paint. Think of a new teflon frying pan, Burn and cook anything, And just wipe it clean. Same stuff, Wish i could get some came in a white bottle , And it had no info , Just said Dupont teflon . But it still had to be done at least twice a year, It dos'nt last forever like they say.

You should polish it yourself before they seal it , As you will do a better job.

Thanks for the quick reply, Yes they are clay baring the car To get the acid rain or fallout off. this is covered for the first 12 months however I feel that they need to do it as this fall out was on the car when I bought it. infact I only had it a week.
the first day I brought it home I redetailed it and went over every square inch.
I found some issues that the dealer is fixing and I felt that I dont mind keeping up
with regular washing, waxings and stuff. but I shouldnt have to restore the finish of a new car. I agree that the clay bar is the only way to go however the Teflon is supposed to prevent this from happing again. and if it does the dealer has to fix it for up to five years.
I agreed to this because you see so many new cars that look like crap I am sure from
abuse but I live in south Florida and the sun is brutal.
as far as I know once the Teflon coating is done this car will never need wax!!
I dont know, so far I have not heard any specific reason not to have it done.
I am only worried that once it is on that if they didnt do a good job with the clay bar
or leave some swirls in the paint that I wont be able to get them out myself.

I was planning on clay baring the car my self but it is allready at the shop with a oil leak
so I agreed to have it done at the same time.
If I go to pick it up and and I see the same spots in I wont pick it up.
the owners manual states that they must fix fallout and acid rain spots, hard water spots
etc so if it is not right they get to do it over.
I spent alot of money on this ride and I wont accept anything less than perfect.

I know Dupont used to make a car wax that had teflon in it, but I have never tried it or heard from anyone if it was any good.
