thinking about 2 toning my hhr

i saw some lexus suv the other day (factory paint becuase ive seen them before) and it was silver (similiar to my hhr) on the top, and the bottom was a darker shade of silver/gray. i think it looked nice (the color combo)

so instantly i though about what it'd look like on my hhr.. i havent photoshopped it yet, but i think itll look nice to get the bottom half (bumpers, running boards, and around the wheel wells) painted a darker shade of silver, plus when i get it lowered and my 18" solstice wheels on, i think itll be set.

any people here paint their hhr like that? ive seen other 2 tones on here but i think it was a different style

It can look great but it's a tricky business, the wrong color combo or just the wrong break points can ruin the whole vehicle.

haha yea i know, i was looking at the car yesterday trying to decide how to break it up, maybe a pinstripe that flows with the color scheme or something, so it doesnt just look like a taped off line (since theres really no where to break the line on the wheel wells, except the body line above the wheel wells)

i have a paint guy that i know good and trust, id have him paint the stock silver on something first, and shoot a few different shades of dark silver on it too, and inspect it in the sun and different lighting to see what exact shade i want.

any ideas on the pinstriping idea though? i wouldnt want like a cheap looking stick on one, would like to have it painted on and have some sort of design maybe. (not just like a straight line, more like a wavy line or something)

today im gonna mess around in photoshop and see what i can come up with.

A wavy line would seem to defeat the purpose in my opinion. I would just do a black pinstripe around the back "fender" to make it look like a separate fender..... same where the front "fender" is part of the door...... But that's me.

I've seen quite a few two-tone HHRs that I really like, but I've also seen a few that look pretty ugly too. With the right color combo and style, it can look really nice.

I made my two-tone HHR.
I'm trying on too long, picking up the color.
My car is blue. But the car has a silver items: grill, door handles and mirrors. I expect to apply the silver color to paint the car body, but the combination has turned out unsuccessful. I rejected it. I applied the color white - the result makes me happy. The car looks like a car diskullman. I want to show the photo later, after wash my car. Now we have damp weather and my car looks sloppy.
I suggest you use a contrasting color. The closer a color to each other, the weaker the visual effect.
And yet. The use of complementary color useful in conjunction with the repair of the car body. Get cheaper. I did. My next step - painted white grill, door handles, mirrors and wheels.
