Thinking about adding chrome outside mirror covers

Hi everybody! My first question here on the forums! Just bought a new 2009 Silver HHR last month, it's a base LS with the black plastic side mirrors. I'm thinking of buying the chrome mirror covers, they supposedly are held on by 3M tape. Has anyone installed these and how well do the covers stay on? Any problems when driving through car washes? Any problems with the covers popping off? Thanks for your help!

they are held on by clips behind the glass. i guess they can be removed with a screwdriver lifting the tabs. im sure someone else will chime in

yeah there have been a few different people on here who has changed out their caps.....Halfpanel08 and Chevy SS have I know for sure.....but like said above they are just held on by tabs inside of the caps....and shouldnt have to worry at all about them flying off, especially if they are GM chrome ones.....

I have installed aftermarket chrome mirror cover, used the 3M tape and no problems at all.

Yeah, i changed mine out for Gloss black instead of the mat black stock ones.

Might i recommend you just paint yours to match the car?!? That'd be my vote over chrome
