Vinyl Bow Tie Wrap / Cover / Overlay

Hi Guys,

I am new here and did a search but could not find what I am looking for. I ordered some vinyl covers for the gold bow ties but have not found a good tutorial for installing them.

Is there any trick to wrapping the vinyl around the edges?

Thanks,

Joe

I havent seen any pre-cut bowtie overlays that wrap around the edges. They all seem to just cover the front flat surface and leave the angled edges bare. If you want the entire gold bowtie covered, I think you will have to get a sheet of vinyl and wrap it yourself, then just trim the edges.

Yeah, take it from someone who had those on their vehicle. I'd suggest taping off the emblems, sanding them a bit, hitting it with a self etching primer, and painting it the color of your choosing.

I ordered some of those eBay ones a few years ago. They were terrible and ended up in the trash. There is a company here that I use for my business that does car wraps. I am going to get them to do my bowties. They can do them the right way with the right material. I was going to paint them but figured I would give this company a try first.

When I first did my rear bowtie, I used a piece of sheet vinyl and formed it to it,it eventualy started peeling off of the edges just from washing and waxing. A few months ago I painted them so they would last longer then the vinyl.I scuffed them up with a scotch brite pad and then put a few light coats on them and so far no problems.

Painting is best for sure, I did my front black still have to do the rear one. But I do have a vinyl overlay in back. I went over the gold edge with a black permanent marker after I seen a member post this idea and damn, it looks pretty good..for now.

Dagum, I wish I would have posted this earlier... I spent some $ on the vinyl already. I did get some stripes to go on the fender so it will be okay.

Is it best to paint them on the car and just mask, or is it better to peal them off and paint? How do I stick them back on if I take them off? Does Chebbie sell just the two sided tape?
