What is the "mm" measurement used for with festoon bulbs?

I was wondering what the festoon bulb measurement was for exactly, since there is about 1/4 inch of space on the connectors for festoon bulbs

I buy mine from ebay for $1

I was only wondering how the measurement was acquired.

Is it end to end?

44mm is tip-to-tip, but a 44mm festoon bulb is not the same as a 44mm festoon wire loom bulb that is required for the HHR ..... I don't think out of the 9,000 plus ebay festoon bulbs that any are the wire loom style! Also not all LED's are the same brigthness that's why we sugested what we did as they are really bright! We probably tried close to a half dozen styles finally being satisfied with our latest purchase. You get what you pay for .....

Can you post a pic of the wire loom type?

The ones that look exactly like the stock ones (i call them fuze type) fit perfectly for me. The only difference is the pointy ends.

The only problem i have with ebay is the bulbs having a purple tint.

You should probably look under your lense cover as these are not the "pointy" type... also Good Luck finding these or something simular for a dollar ...

Here's what I found on ebay:

Ive never seem that before, and the hhr does not come with that type, and i dont see why it would be better to have that rather than the same fitting that the stock bulbs came with

Im not being sarcastic, i would generally like to know why those are better.

Also if you are referring to looking under the lense cover as me replacing the lights, ive already done that with the entire car with the $1 ones

I simply wanted to know how the measurement was achieved

The stock bulbs are identical to the $1 evay ones...i dont even see how those "rigid" ones would even stay in the holder

Our 08' take's the rigid loop style...... maybe on a newer HHR they changed to a pointy type then? sorry for any mis-information.....

also a 44mm bulb (which should be your size) is approxamately 1 3/4" tip-to-tip.....
