I am going to eventually paint the whole thing either with just flat clear coat or do a 2 tone with flat clear.
soon i want to paint the handles and grille. should i paint them to match the car or black like the wheels?

I think painting the door handles body color would make them blend in, giving them a bit of a shaved look. If you go with the wheel color, they would stand out quite a bit. If it were me, I would paint the handles body color and the grill the wheel color to make it stand out a bit more, and to break up all the silver. Very nice HHR you have there.

I agree... I think the door handles would look better the color of the car so they don't stand out too much. I also think the grille would look good black!

well they may get pained black. i know black and charcoal isnt eyepopping but i think i want to 2 tone it with black on the bottom. then the grille and handles woulb be in the black part.
if i do 2tone it should i leave the mirrors chrome or paint them charcoal?

Paint the mirror caps, if you leave them chrome they would look odd with everything else you have done

you should shave the handles, what with all the other fabrication you've done, this seems very plausible. i wanna shave the rear handles and do a 1/2 panel conversion, then go semigloss black... all in due time

i had shaved handles on my old ranger. i hated them. it looks good but if you drive your car much, they suck. i got good at taking the door panels off without opening the door, cause the solenoids messed up pretty often

im looking for a new paint gun so it wont be long

24s

put some chrome 24s on it and leave the paint alone...then you may get to cut some more out your wheel wells to get it back down.....and it won't look like all the other cars with the big wheels , at least most all that i've seen are jacked up.....your car looks good to me as is....if you want a different paint job , why not go ahead and chop the top about 2 or 3 inches...i wouldn't recomend that to just anyone , but i seems like you got the skills to to it.

yeah im too tall for a chop top. if i was crazy i would just make it topless.
the reason i want to paint it is cause i ruined the clear coat. all the work i did i wasnt careful enough with the grinder. now i got little specs of rust all in the clear. i like the low key look of a simple 2tone and flat clear coat.
ill stick with the 18"s so i can actually drive it. haha. just need to powder coat em.
