8" mid mounted outside of door panel?
Thinking about some prv 200w rms mids mounted outside of the door panel with minimal cutting of the door.
should add some cone area, power handling (decibels) and eliminate the blocking that is caused by the door panel. My amp does 400w bridged at 4 ohms so I would get 200w rms to each speaker. I dialed in my front stage and I can barely put any gain on all speakers before they clip. Even then...I have to turn the tweeters down to -13db to level match with the mids so I know those are the weak link. do you guys think the door panel can support ~2-3lbs by itself on the lower corner? |
It might, but I'm sure the plastic will buzz

Hmm what about an 8" in the stock location? Already have a 3/4" adapter which should only require minimal trimming of the stock speaker opening metal on the door
