8" sub enclosure

I was searching the internet for ideas on custom sub enclosures and came across the sub in the kick panel idea.

We have plenty of room in our passager kick panel area to bring that sub up-front. This is most likely where I'm going to be placing my sub. I'm also thinking about having it wrapped in leather.

Another thing I'm also keeping in mind, I like custom work but I'm trying to avoid chopping this car up. So I might purchase a spare kick panel to make my enclosure. I'm going to use a MB Quart RWE204 reference 8" sub. I think this a classy looking sub plus a great company makes it.

And Lowes and Home Depot carry lots of furniture hardware that would make great custom grills for your sub and speakers. I'm thinking about adding these to my door panels as well.

Ok, not going alot on here on this topic but I hope to have some photo's up soon, as I will be starting this project tomorrow. I have switch my mind on subwoofers I'm going with the Premier 8" shallow mount sub with a 3" mounting depth and a extreme small air space requirment. This should hopefully keep the kick panel small enough so I don't lose much leg room.

My biggest fear is playing with fiberglass in my new car. I done this many of times before but I will be sure to wel-prep the entire area first.

The only other thing I havn't decided on is if I'm going to paint it the exterior color or leather wrap it. either way would be nice.

There was a company that makes/made those panels. I tried searching for them couldn't find the company.

Yeah but not big enough for a subwoofer and it has to be a sealed enclosure. My whole idea is to maintain the stock system add a subwoofer but bring the woofer to the front of the car where the sound stage is to be. If anything I'm going to try to find a midrange driver for the door to replace the stock speaker. It has to be comparable in wattage but be made out of a better cone material. I'm going to try a polkaudio DB speaker to see if that works.

Try JL audio, they make a lot of custom sub enclosures.

With the Premier sub I have as little as .15 to .5 air space to work with. With the odd shape of the kick panel I should fall in between about .25 cuft and maybe some polyfill to trick the woofer. I'm going to measure it out using water. I was told that is the easiest way to figure out air space on odd enclosures.
