AA5 Audio build
So some people may remember about my crazy idea for mounting subs up where the third window may be in a non-panel HHR... After about a year of thinking it over I've finally pulled the trigger and began the build for it.
Two MDF boxes will mount onto the top sides of the rear quarter panel, and I'll have a fiberglass shell that will attach over them and replace the top piece of plastic trim.
The install will also include a head unit, speakers in all four doors and an amp powerful enough to push it all. Dyna mat is also being used to keep some road noise out and the music in.
Wish me luck!

So with help from two real good guys I was able to get all the sound deadner in for the floor and the rear doors. Having three guys work all day on a car is much faster then I could do myself!
Before:
After:
Additionally we pulled of the FM radio antenna on the front of the HHR and replaced it with a "homemade antenna" under the headliner. I'll be fitting a piece of metal over the old hole and using a small bottle of touch up paint to cover the space left by the shaved antenna.

I forgot to update this, but the boxes were formed with fleece and resin before using fiberglass to add more of a shape to it. Where the antennea used to be on the front of the car was welded a very small plate before being grinded down and bondo was applied. New wire was run through the gromets in the doors for the speakers and I picked up a new washer fluid tank out of a Mazda B2000 to mount out of the way of my new intake.
