AM Problem

OK - I know most of us prefer FM or CD or satellite, but I've got a problem with AM reception (best radio in town is on AM).

AM "cracks" on most stations - FM is OK, CD is fine.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like an issue to take up with the dealer. Could be faulty radio or loose antenna wire somewhere.

to chevyhhr.net...the best online forum for anything HHR.

We look forward to seeing you around the boards and learning more about you and your HHR.

Could check your antenna wire in the back of your deck. Mine was only pushed in halfway. I just took out my deck and pluged it back in. I had bad FM before then.

Good advice from both BlackHHR and CJ.

Titans...if you need info on removing the stock radio, you can go HERE for a How-To that Mike from SoCalHHR's posted. Great instructions and I used them when I replaced my stock 1 disc with a 6 disc I purchased from another member.

Another thought just came to mind...may not affect the radio, but have you checked to see if all the fuses are seated properly. This seems to be an across the board problem with the HHR. Please refer to SoCalHHR's sticky HERE. Also, be sure to pull the fuse panel on the right hand side of the center console where the radio, AC controls, etc are located. There are fuses behind that panel as well.

I have always had a problem with AM stations. Most come in with static or cracking. That's why I switched to FM so many years ago....(about the same time I bought my 8 track player)

No prob's with AM reception and I've got a stubby ant + (premium) OEM Head Unit (single CD... no XM). Of course ... it is a lil fuzzy sounding at times - but that's the a.m. "norm".
