Backup camera setup for the HHR? Anyone

Just wondering is anyone here has thought of this safety feature as an install on our HHRs?

We just got our Oddity and it came with the coolest nav/radio/backup camera/voice control setup I've ever seen. It sold me on the Ody over any competing vans.
The camera already saved the life of our most stupidest of felines, Rusty Kitty:

She'll sleep in front or behind anything that could run her over!
Yesterday I was backing into a parking spot in front of our store and some people just appeared behind the van. I'm glad the camera was on................ They literally jumped into the area I was backing into.

So now I'm sold on these backup cameras. I think I'd put one in the HHR before even Headrest LCDs/DVD players! Safety first and all that...........

A couple of options for backup camera systems.

A cheapie here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...53972043183205 One guy had two of these and both filled with water, so even though it is a wireless setup, the quality may just not be there.
More in the Ody forum here:

A perk or curse of the wireless setup is the ability to accidentaly get images from other nearby wireless sources like filling stations and pawn shops!

Of course some nice Nav systems come with a backup camera integrated within, so that to is an option since we have no nav in the HHR. But I still like the stock six cd changer/XM radio with Onstar and have no real need to change it.....But....... that would be the spot to put a great aftermarket nav/cam setup .

Just postulating about the next mod and finding the backup camera thing a cool functional safety-oriented install.
Any thoughts are welcome.

Personally, i see them as more of a distraction. I see plenty with my mirrors. If someones animal sleeps on my driveway, I'll just have to shovel it back to it's own yard.

I know some get rid of the rear wiper. Why not get a camera that will fit in to that hole and instead of just plugging it putting it to use.
Thats what I will prob do if I ever get an HHR.
Just an option

They now have wireless setups that use a license plate frame.

I installed one in my 2002 Suburban for hitching up the trailer. It works well, but gets dirty quickly, obscuring the image. Another factor is rain- it will distort the image to the point that it's hard to make things out. I only use mine for hitching, too much of a hassle and distraction for general use.

I have it on my car and the display is on my radio. I works great for parking I have a long single drive and you can get the cars very close. if you have the poineer nav radios all you need is a reverse image camera

I didn't realize you had that, Hne... I'll need a demo, okay? Did you get that when you got your audio upgrade? Pricey??

Cool looking mod. Does the Pioneer display the image in reverse like it suggest in your pic, or is the idea that a reverse image camera will make the image correct?

My premium audio package is still preforming fine, but if it broke, I'd get one of the Pioneers. They have a hard drive for audio storage and such which makes the need for a multi disc player less important.
Thanks for the pictures.
