Best ground spot?

Just curious where people have found the best ground for an amp near the tire well. I just added a new sub and amp to my system and I'm getting some alternator whine. I've tried grounding directly to the battery plate and the ground bolt right by it but I've read these are not the best spots. The amp is 5 channels and is also powering the front 4 speakers. I haven't changed the HU. I've isolated the noise to the ground.

I also need to replace the ground wire because it is 8 ga while the power is 4 ga. Not sure what that is about, I guess just the cheap kit I bought.

Never mind. It is in fact the RCA cables coming in. I tapped into the factory wiring so I'll need to remedy this some how. I guess I just need to tap in closer to the HU instead of at the amp in the back.

Did you tap into the right wires? I haven't had any problems using the ones by the amp.

I'm pretty sure I did. I've got audio just fine. There is just a litle bit of alternator whine. With the volume up I don't even notice it. Problem is I like to listen to talk radio too and the whine is very noticeable. I used cheap RCA cables so upgrading them may solve the problem.

Yeah, I'd try that before rewiring.
