CD with MP3 music files

2011 LT1 ...

I burned a CD with about 40 songs, all in the root directory ... works fine.

I did another with about 180 songs in a directory structure. Many of the songs play part way through then it switches to the next one. As far as I can tell, I'm well within limits noted in the manual, fewer than 50 folders, less than 8 folders in depth, under 255 files. It plays fine back in the computer. Has anyone run into this, and how did you resolve it if so?

Thanks, George

@gbynum, how are things going with the CD situation? If you’re still in need of assistance please, send me a private message with the VIN of your HHR. I’ll dig into this to see if I can assist further.

I just used the root, because I wanted the songs to play in the order I recorded them. I found that if you do into subfolders...the order gets mixed up, not to mention how distracting it is to mess with the radio scanning through subfolders while driving.....

I expect to use random, so the order doesn't bother me; I've not had any scanning occur. Explain that one, please. Or are you talking about the "Music Navigator" feature?

Thanks!

I have made many multi folder cd's. Everything seems to work correctly: I can change the song, either advance to the next selection or revert to the previous selection with steering wheel controls but you have to use the buttons on the radio to navigate from folder to folder. I have noticed that sometimes the folders are not in the same order as the original recording order. I have never checked to see if this is on the disc or the headunit is changing the folder que. And it only changes the first folder. It only moves one folder to the #1 position but the remainder of the folders stay in the order as burned and I have not noticed any change in single selection order. I have had this same thing happen on at least 2 other head units, a Pioneer AVIC Z3 and a Rockford Fosgate. Since all the music was there, just the order changed a little, it didn't seem critical so I never bothered to investigate.
