i have a 2006 2LT with every option gm gave that year. anyhow i have been noticing lately that if i want to listen to a cd in my cd player and i usually do on my way to work at 6am. The cd player doesnt exactly play as it should. it sounds like the cd is skipping in my player sounds distorted and staticky. i have the XM 6 DISC player and pioneer sound with ipod input.
anyhow this only happens when its cold outside below 50 degrees usually here in oklahoma, only after 20-30 minutes of driving or after the car gets warm enough, do i try again and turn the radio off to try and listen to a cd. keep in mind the cd's arent scratched and work in players fine. and yes i usually leave the CD's in the player for extended periods of time.
lately we have been in the 60's and 70's here so i havent had this problem lately. anyone having the same problem or have any ideas ?

I used to have an aftermarket cd player in a S-10 I had that did this and I concluded it must be condensation either on the cd player head (optical eye) or the cd itself.... never really did figure out away around it though. Hopefully someone else will chime in...

yes, usually it is fogging. if your car goes from cold to warm, or if it is in a garage and then out to the cold this can happen. never had it on my hrr, but used to have it on my jimmy.

like you said you leave the cds in for a long time, so your cd is really cold, warms up and fogs itself, rendering useless until the fog clears.
